Default ESPNU CT Closing on December 20

Just letting everyone know if you didn't get an e-mail. Yes, College Town is closing because "it has run its course." It will be sorely missed, but in the meantime, get your campuses ready; I want to see everyone's updated and final campus (I will post mine as well) in a new thread--I think the final version deserves a special and separate thread. Deans, get cracking!

What a waste for everyone who ever did anything with this game. I'm ashamed I ever signed up. Get an email saying I was one of the game's best, well, I hate myself for the money I spent playing this game and what it became and, now, how it's going out.

    Lame.

The sad part is that they opened up the last district, lured people to spend money to get the last district then decided to close things. Talk about a slimy things to do.

    Thumbs down Tell your friends

The best thing you can do in this case is to tell all your friends never to play a Playdumb game. I am SOOOO glad I didn't spend another hundred to get into the last "district."

    Default Closing Down

What will happen to the Campus Cash that people have left once the game is shut down? I have 492 left I would like it to be transferred to MYVineyard. A company did that when they bought some games over from another company and you could chose to transferred to the game of your choice.

Just letting people know I received an email from support after I contacted them. And I must say very quick response. But no they will not transfer for them into another playdom game(it is in the rules). So anyone who has campus cash left over will lose it. Bummer I say. It would have been nice and nice customer courtesy to do so for loyalty by playdom players. I will still play MyVineyard

    Default Absolutely disgusting !!!!

What a smack in the face to the truly dedicated players, such as myself.

I logged in daily and played for a bit. I didn't "farm" items, I played the game. I build districts and kept them
in place, until expansion was needed.

This is total madness, Playdom should be ashamed of themselves. Eh, I guess we should have known,
just like corporate America, milk it for all she's worth and then to hell with everyone else and what they want.

To add insult to injury, they're still offering new items. There were new things to buy when I logged in today, What is
    that all about?

Oh and giving campus cash every day for logging in, that is supposed to make everything all better?

I guess my saving grace is, I know I had the integrity to play the game the way it was meant to be played and I never
spent a dime of real money on it.

Scotty Farrington said this on Facebook:

With respect to the few million players that were playing this game at it's peak, to the 150,000 current players, I feel I have no choice to respond to this.

This WAS a good game, started with good intentions. But greed got in the way.

I believe that the intent of this game was to show spirit for your school, or the school you were a fan of. To build a campus, or your idea of a dream campus. It was easy to play, navigate, build and level up. The game grew by leaps and bounds. Success was yours, millions were playing. Then you introduced Campus Cash. This was the way to get the cool and special items, the elite items that would make your campus cooler than the rest.

But how do I get Campus Cash?

Well I get one every OTHER time I level up or when I log in on the right day during the "Item of the week" promo. The only other way I can get it is to PAY FOR IT.

You began to be unable to do anything significant without having to PAY FOR IT.

You were asking people and a lot of college students to pay to play your game. PAY TO PLAY!?!?!?!?!

How long did you think this would last? You had to see the number of active players drop. I sure did. And a bunch of us commented here and on the forum.

Why the need for all this cash? Are you telling us ESPN is going broke and you need this game to turn a profit?

You should have listened to your players and fixed your mistakes when you had the chance, before you drove them all away.

But instead YOU GUYS gave up on the game, but you continued to try and milk it for every last drop.

You quit adding things you didn't have to pay Campus Cash for, You haven't changed the gifts players could send each other in about a year. You closed the campus store, which allowed players to decorate your school with their schools logos and mascots (Which you usually had to pay for). You didn't offer all the letters of the greek alphabet. (I wanted to spell out the name of my campuses with them, but I couldn't.

And in a last desperate act, You FINALLY open the ninth and final district. Oh, but wait, You have to spin and collect items to open it up. The cost, 4 CAMPUS CASH PER SPIN!?!?!?!?!?! With NO guess as to how many spins it would take to collect all the needed items.

I pray no one payed you guys for spins with yesterdays announcement. If so, you owe them a FULL REFUND!

Now I'll admit, I bought campus cash early on. At least $50 worth. But I soon learned that anything in this game had a price. Not something you could readily earn or win. The only way was to PAY TO PLAY.

You built a great game and you destroyed a great game. You had many chances to fix it, but you didn't.........

But why not do this, between now and 12/20 get rid of the Campus Cash. Put a normal price on everything and see what happens. See if the people you drove away, would come back. Now make sure to let them know that you are doing this (Emails). And let the game be fun again. And see what happens. And if nothing happens, then at least let the rest of us have a few FUN weeks of ESPNU.

It was nice playing while it lasted. Wish it could continue with some tweaking to make it popular and attractive to play again.

One of the worst mistakes of my recent life was letting a friend convince me to start this crap. Wasted way too much time and money on something I got NOTHING out of.

These things are thieves. The makers, the games, themselves... thieves.
