    Default Bethi's Boutique :)

    Welcome to Bethi's Boutique, created by...guess who...me: Bethi7!

I've been occasionally working on designs and am welcome to critiquing and help. Definitely open to help
I haven't worked so much on the clothes, that is something I would like to start working on however.
Right now my focus has been hair.
And on that note...here is the newest one [originally based off of Lauren Conrad's "Tie Dyed Hair" ...turned out completely different but I really like it compared to some of my first attempts
Please ignore the hideous dress...that is something I plan on working with later Just tried to cover the avi up in some, semi okay something haha, I know what I want to do, that is def what I will work on tomorrow...so be looking for an update with better clothes

Edit: And looking I didn't clean up the hair as much as I needed to on top...will fix tomorrow

Also, I've decided...rather than designing...I'm better at making signatures...so if you would like to request one...just PM me with your request

    Thanks!

And if you are super curious...here is my first ever attempt at designing, as seen on the old forum

    2. Hair for some reason remind me of LC ponytail. I would love if strands were defined as in first one. (Only weird thing is that it actually isn't Lauren Conrad ,it's Carrie Underwood but never mind) I like necklace but it needs more shading and definition. But you said this was your very first design so it's okay. Dress is cute ,but bottom is blurry. Have you tried path tool yet? It would help you much. I adore idea tho. Purse isn't really needed if you ask me. Shoes look a little "deformed" (lines are not smooth) but if lines were smooth ,they would look pretty natural. Shading needed. But shading is biggest enemy of new designers so I wouldn't rush with that. You should practice tho. It seems like you have potential. I needed a lot of time until I became good. I started out horrible. No shading ,blurry lines ,hair just some scratches and yet I became good. You in start show potential for something. Keep practicing to improve your drawing skills.

I focused more on the top half than the bottom half :/
And because of that the shoes look slightly awkward [imo at least], as does one pant leg I kind of rushed those :/ haha

However, I am pleased with how the shirt[s] came out
The hair isn't as nice as I had hoped but it is still a bit better than the first one I ever did [imo] and I still kind of like it...

Sooo? [please, focus on the top half of it all the bottom really is terrible haha]

I love your ideas! The concepts are awesome. Like you said, if you'd put a bit more work in them then they'd be better. What do you use? PS? Gimp? Corel Draw?

I have PS but it crashes every time I load it...therefore, I have been using Gimp.
I know more about PS so when I get it fixed I'm going to see what I can do with that
I honestly do not know much about Gimp. After reading the Gimp help thread I've learned a few things and improved a little, but not the point that I want to be at...

    And thanks
    Btw: what do you use?

It seems like you worked a bit on shading on hair ,but also on outfit. I love hair. I would dodge some parts tho. Anyway ,I love that you started defining strands that early. I like shading on top ,but I would add some on edges and I would make it softer. But I think it turned out well. I see improvement. Pants need a bit deeper shading. I like outfit overall tho. Shoes need more shading and definition but seem to be nice. I like your ideas.

I use PS mainly...I go to gimp when I need finer brushes. I'm not very acquainted with gimp though; I'm sure I could do more with if I knew how to use it....it's kinda hard when the keyboard shortcuts are very different. "P" in photoshop brings up the pen tool and "P" in gimp brings out the brush tool. Erase is "Shift+E" instead of just "E" and it makes it tough for me since I'm very fluent in PS Shortcuts D:

You do pretty well for someone just figuring it out. You'll get there

I tried on Gimp in my school ,but I realized that I don't even need thin brushes. They look alike 1px that is only lower opacity. Only 0.5px don't look like that ,but you can get it by simple thinning line. So I never downloaded GIMP on my compy.

When I did it, I thought it was great! And then I saw the other entries and I felt blah about it

I think shading on this one is great. I would love if there was some details on dress tho. Hair has great ,defined strands ,but is a bit unnatural and flat. I love hat. I like shoes. I actually voted for this entry. I though it was cute.
I though that two of my entries were total fail ,but opposite stats showed. V-neck dress won second round and Sheer Fantasy has been tied with Honorable mention. One that I actually though that it was good ,failed in start. It was Fancy hair. I was sure it will do better than other of mines ,but it didn't. And your entry did better than some of entries that designers with experience drew. So you can't say that your entry was worse than others. I compared my own ones and it turned out opposite than I expected. Much people think opposite than you.
