    FIGHT QUESTIONS

Why am I losing fights when I have more glam than the person I’m fighting?
You may have more glam than the person you’re fighting, but is it better? If you’re attacking, you’ll want glam with high charm. If you’re defending, you’ll want glam with high popularity. It’s also important to take skill points into consideration. The amount of skill points your opponent has in charm or popularity can be the deciding factor in who wins and who loses.

Why am I losing fights when I have a bigger house than the person I’m fighting?
House size isn’t everything. Do you have an outfit, an accessory, a ride, and a boyfriend for each of your house members? If so, are they the best purchasable items? How are your skill points allocated? Any of these could determine the outcome of a fight.

What is the best glam to have for fighting?
You can check out SIN Sational's guide right here!

Why are all of my items not showing when I fight?
You fight with five times your level. So at level 20, for example, you fight with 100 sisters. This means that if you have at least 100 sisters, a maximum of 100 outfits, accessories, rides, and boyfriends will be used.

How does the game figure out what glam you’re fighting with? Is it random?
The game will automatically pick the best glam for you to fight with. If you are attacking, it will choose the items with the best charm. If you are defending, it will choose the items with the highest popularity.

How many sisters can I fight with? / Why do some people fight with more than 500?
You can fight with five times your level. The number of “real” sisters you can fight with maxes out at 500, the amount you can fight with at level 100. After level 100, you can still fight with five times your level, but anything over that 500 needs to be a boarder. When you get to the very high levels, you will see people fighting with 1000+ sisters! This means that they purchased (or earned) 500 boarders.

Why can I be attacked by lower levels, but I can’t attack them back?
As you get to higher levels, you have more glam and skill points available, in addition to fighting with a bigger house. A lower level is welcome to take their chances fighting against a higher level, but because of the advantage higher levels have, they may not attack lower levels.

Why am I being attacked when I’m not playing?
Your game does not stop when you log out. Your character will always be active and able to fight.

Why can someone with a house much bigger than mine attack me?
It can be frustrating to be attacked by someone with a much bigger house, but remember that you have a couple options. First, you can add more sisters. If you’re uncomfortable keeping strangers as friends, you can delete them once they are in your house. Second, you can add all of your skill points into popularity. It is possible for someone with a much smaller house to win if they have very high popularity and good glam for all the sisters they do have!

Is it better to fight with many low stat items or a few high stat items?
This is where you need to do a little bit of math. Let’s say that you have $100,000 to spend on glam. Should you buy 20 Bicycles, 5 Priuses, or 1 Cadillac Escalade? 20 Bicycles gives you 20 charm and 40 popularity. 5 Priuses give you 15 charm and 15 popularity. 1 Cadillac Escalade only gives you 6 charm and 7 popularity. In this case, it is better to buy the 20 Bicycles, provided you have at least 20 sisters in your house. However, this may not always be true with every combination of items.

Does what I’m wearing figure into my charm or popularity?
Nope, you’re free to wear whatever you want. It has no effect on fighting.

Why do I get depressed whenever I’m attacked?
    There are three possible reasons.
    * Your house size. Do you have a big enough house size for your level? You should have five times your level in sisters.
    * Your glam. Do you have glam high in popularity for all of your sisters?
    * Your skill points. How many skill points do you have in popularity? We recommend at least 1.5x your level.

How can I tell who has been attacking me?
If you look on the feed on the main page of the game, it will tell you who has been attacking. You may need to scroll down to the bottom to see.

Why am I being attacked so much / How can I stop someone from attacking me?
You may be attacked if you have a small house. You may be attacked if someone finds your name or your status offensive. You may be attacked because you upset someone’s friend. Or, most likely, you will just be attacked at random by someone clicking names on the fight list. There are three ways to stop someone from attacking you. First, you can create a “decoy” character, a mini that you will keep at level 1. Second, you can add the attacker to your house. Third, you can lay low until the attacker gets to a higher level than you.

Why do my sisters show on my fight list?
Sometimes the game gets confused. But don’t worry, you’ll get an error message if you try to attack them.

How am I being attacked by higher levels?
You may appear on someone’s rivals list. This means that you beat them a number of times and they are now allowed to retaliate against you, regardless of level. You may also have been attacked by a lower-level character than the one the person is currently using.

Can people take my money if I attack them and I lose?
Nope, the only way you lose money in fights is if someone attacks you and you lose.

What do you guys mean when you talk about “pop glam” or “charm glam”?
“Pop glam” is glam that has high popularity, which is good for defense. “Charm glam” is glam that is high in charm, which is good for attacking.

I have loads of the same glam for fighting, why does this not all show up?
If you have glam with higher stats, it will be used first. The game automatically chooses the best glam for you to fight with, highest stats first.

When I attack someone, why is my high pop glam not used?
When you attack someone, your charm is what matters, and the glam you own with the highest charm will be used. Your high pop glam will be used when someone attacks you and you are defending against their attack.

Is it worth it to add sisters if I don’t have the cash to get glam for them right away?
Yes! Even if you don’t have glam for your sisters, they will fight “empty handed” using the skill points you have placed in charm or popularity.

Is there a difference between being depressed and being destroyed?
Being depressed and destroyed are the same thing. However, the “Depressions” in your stats are the number of times YOU have been depressed, while “Girls Destroyed” is the number of girls you have attacked into a depression.

Why did I just lose to a person I always win against?
There is a random factor thrown into calculating the fight results. Usually it just varies the result by a couple of confidence points, but sometimes there is a rather large difference, causing a different result than normal. If you keep flipping between winning against someone and losing against them, it means that you’re pretty evenly matched!

Is there a way to play this game without fighting?
You don’t need to attack, but there is no way to take your name off the fight list, so you will always need to defend. Decide for yourself whether your stats and amount of depressions are important to you. If not, feel free to ignore the fighting aspect entirely and focus your skill points on energy. If you are concerned with your stats, you should split your skill points between energy and popularity.

I keep being attacked by the same person. Are they targeting me? Did I do something wrong?
They are most likely not targeting you. Most people just attack random people off the fight list, and it’s likely that your name tends to be near the top. Sometimes, however, the person will attack you to try to get a rise out of you. If you don’t like being attacked by this person, make sure that you’re not leaving messages for them or attacking/slapping/burning them. The best way to get rid of a repeat attacker is to completely ignore them.

Is there a maximum number of times I can attack someone?
You can attack someone as many times as you want!

Are my fight stats shared between characters or are they individual?
    Fight stats are kept separate.

What does the Rivals List do?
The Rivals List is a record of who has attacked you most throughout your time playing the game. Once someone shows up on the list, you are allowed to attack them until the game tells you to “forgive and forget,” even if you get to a higher level than your rival.

BURN LIST & BOUNTY HUNTING QUESTIONS

Do I have to win fights on the burn list to claim the gratitude?
Nope, you just have to take their confidence down to zero.

Will I automatically get the gratitude if I win the fight?
You need to take their confidence down to zero in order to claim the gratitude.

How do I get my bounty higher?
Your bounty is determined by your salary x 10, or calculated based on the number of fights you’ve won, whichever is higher. In order to raise your bounty, you need to get a higher-paying job or win more fights. You can check out Christopher’s nifty bounty calculator for more information.

How do I know if I’ve been put on the burn list?
You will receive a notification in your feed. It will say something along the lines of “xxxxxxxx has written your name on the burn list, with a reward of $1,600,000!” You will likely be depressed before you even notice that you’ve been burned.

Why is there never anybody showing on my burn list?
The burn list is a very busy place! You need to refresh constantly to see any activity. Also, keep in mind that because there are restrictions on the levels you can attack, you won't be seeing EVERYBODY who's currently on the burn list.

I thought I couldn’t be attacked while in the spa, but someone put me on the burn list. How does that work?
Being in the spa is meant to “protect” your character from being depressed. Because the aim of the burn list is to depress people, being in the spa doesn’t matter.

I’ve heard that bounty hunters should stay at a low level. What is considered “low” and why is that helpful?
Remember that on the burn list, you can only attack those who are at your level and higher. If you stay at a low level, you’re able to see many more people and claim many more grats. It is possible to be a high-level bounty hunter, but it requires a lot more patience.

Why do I not get as much influence when I’m on the burn list as when I’m in regular fights?
The burn list is meant to cause you to lose influence rather than gain it. Because of this, you only gain 1 influence per 9 confidence lost.

I hear people talking about “friendly” or “controlled” burns. How is it different than a regular burn and what is the purpose of it?
A friendly burn occurs when someone is burned at their own request. There are many reasons for this - people wanting to raise their win count, wanting to lose influence, wanting to check their popularity, wanting to increase their girls destroyed, or wanting to increase their bounty by winning more fights quickly, among others.

    INTRAMURALS QUESTIONS

How is an intramural different from regular fighting?
In an intramural, you are not fighting against someone, you’re competing as a team to achieve a certain number of points.

How do I start a competition?
You need swag that can either be collected from the Facebook news feed or purchased with Brownie Points. What you need varies based on the competition you'd like to start.
Dodgeball: 3 Dodgeballs, 3 First Aid Kits, 3 Pumps
Basketball: 3 Headbands, 3 Basketballs, 3 Gym Bags
Roller Derby: 4 Helmets, 4 Stretchers
Rhythmic Gymnastics: 4 Hoops, 4 Ribbons

What are the prizes for finishing a competition?
For a complete list, you can check Christopher's glam guide.

Can I invite my sisters to help me?
Yes you can! From the main intramurals page, click "remind my sisters" and the option to post a bonus will pop up. This bonus will have a direct link to your competition.

    EVENTS QUESTIONS

What rewards do I get for completing events?
These can vary from money to glam. For lower achievement events, you would be more likely to be rewarded with money, however higher level events give out glam, Brownie Points, skill points and boarders.

I’m done with all the events... what now?
New events are always being added to the game, and Study Abroads are frequently open. In addition to this, there is the option to fight other players or create a ‘mini’ and start events over.

Are certain events more worthwhile than others?
This is entirely dependent on what you want to achieve. If you want to play the game for the glam, then the events which give out glam will be more worthwhile to you, but the other events will provide you with chances to increase your energy, meaning you can do more events. If you are playing for strategic purposes, then doing the events which give out skill points and boarders would be of more use to you.

What does the “Ask Sisters For Help” button do?
It seems as though it only lets your friends know which events you’re working on and posts a bonus that rewards them with cash for clicking. It doesn’t actually help you finish the event more quickly.

How do I change my major? What does a major do?
A major allows you to gain either confidence, energy, or money more quickly. For a detailed explanation of how to get or change your major, check out Christopher's guide.

    SPA QUESTIONS

How do I hide in the spa?
You can hide in the spa by making sure that you stay below 20% of your total confidence. You can do this by attacking someone until you’re at very low confidence. Remember that paying will refill your confidence, bringing you out of the spa faster.

How do I know if I’m out of the spa?
You’re out of the spa when your confidence reaches 20%.

    GLAM QUESTIONS

    What is ‘LE’ glam?
“LE,” or “Limited Edition” glam is purchased with Brownie Points and is only available for a few days. It tends to have higher stats than the clothing that is purchasable with cash.

What is the ‘Vintage Boutique’ and how often is it changed?
The Vintage Boutique is a selection of previously released LE items that are available again for a higher price. The Vintage Boutique usually changes about once every two months.

How often is new glam released?
We get new glam almost every night, so an item is usually out for five to seven days.

Is there any restriction on the amount of glam I can have?
You can have however much glam you want. There is no upper limit. In fact, some people like to keep one of every item that is released.

    What does ‘fully glammed’ mean?
This means that you have enough glam for all of the sisters you fight with. You can be fully glammed for attacking, meaning you have a lot of high charm items, fully glammed for defending, meaning you have a lot of high popularity items, or both.

Is it safe to sell low-stat glam once I get better stuff?
You can sell any glam you want to as long as you have enough for the amount of sisters you’re fight with. However, you will want to make sure you aren’t selling anything you may need for an event later on.

I missed a gift in one of the five day collections. What can I do?
Did you send any gifts to your sisters? If so, you can ask them to return the favor. If you didn’t, you can spin the 5 BP gift gala, but this doesn’t guarantee that you will get the item you need.

How can I find out where a particular glam item came from?
You can check out Sher.143's advice right here!

Why does some of the glam say MODE on it?
MODE is the name of a designer brought in to do certain LE items. There have not been any MODE items recently, but a lot of members hope that they will return.

Why can’t I share my glam with my sisters?
The ability to trade or send glam would make cheating in the game much easier. People could easily create secondary accounts to trade with their main account, especially since you get an initial 10 Brownie Points when you first start. Additionally, the amount of money people would spend on Brownie Points for galas would drastically decrease, which would in turn decrease Playdom’s profits.

My glam was credited to the wrong character, what should I do?
You should submit a ticket to Playdom. You can do this here. Make sure to describe what happened, which glam item it was, and which character it belongs on. It will help if you can explain how or why the glam was credited to the wrong character. You may get a generic response telling you that Playdom doesn’t credit glam lost due to user error, but if you politely reply to that email, you will eventually get to talk to a real person.

There is an outfit from real life that I think would look awesome in the game! How can I suggest it to Playdom?
You can post it in the Suggestions section of the forum. Playdom representatives have been known to look in that section of the forum for inspiration!

    Why doesn’t Facebook have layering?
We haven’t received a definitive answer on this. Some people speculate that it’s because Facebook has stricter regulations on apps, and would be concerned with the ability to have a “naked” character.

Why do I never get anything good in my cookie?
The glam you receive in your cookie is purely by chance. This means you might get old LE one day and useless low stat glam the next.

Is there any glam I should keep for events later on?
Yes there is! We have a list here.

    KEEPSAKE QUESTIONS

How can I send my friend a keepsake if her name doesn’t appear in the list?
You can go to her page and click the “Send Keepsakes” button in the top right corner. It’s much faster than searching for the same name over and over again!

Can I send my main character’s keepsakes to my mini?
The only way to do this is to ask a sister to help. You can send all the keepsakes you want for your mini to that sister, switch characters, and then have her send them back.

If a keepsake collection is expired, can I still get the outfit?
You certainly can! You just need to borrow the keepsakes from your sisters or purchase them with Brownie Points.

    How do I get keepsakes?
Most keepsakes drop from events. Different keepsakes drop from different tabs. There is a collection for each tab of events. There are other limited time keepsakes that show up as bonuses posted by your sisters. You must collect these from the Facebook news feed.

Do the items disappear once the collection is completed?
Nope! The items will stay as keepsakes and you are free to let your sisters borrow them if you’d like.

What are the different rewards for completing a keepsake collection?

    In order,
    1. Pledge Collection. (house tab) Pledge Dress, Blond Hair with Headband, +5 charm
    2. Powderpuff Football Collection. (on campus tab) Football Outfit, Sneakers, +3 popularity
    3. Charity Car Wash Collection. (off campus tab) T-Shirt & Shorts, Brunette Ponytail, +8 confidence
    4. Spring Break Collection. (vacation tab) Despi Bikini, Jeweled Sandals, +1 stamina
    5. Fall Semester Spruce Up Collection. (on campus tab) Maid for You Costume, +2 energy
    6. Coffee Break Collection. (downtown tab) Military Cardigan and Skirt, +2 popularity

    SWAG QUESTIONS

What are vanities? How do I get them and what do they do?
Vanities are a type of Swag that give you special “boosts” for short periods of time. For example, if you win a ‘Iris’ Vanity, you will win more cash with each event you complete until it runs out. Anytime you get a boost, you will see a message that you used that Vanity and got a boost. There are Vanities for extra cash, reducing energy needed, raising your attack power, or raising your defense power. Vanities will appear occasionally after completing any event, and can also be given to your sisters by posting to your Facebook wall. You can find your vanities under your ‘My Swag’ tab on the ‘Socialize’ page.

I used a fruit smoothie and it didn’t refill my energy 100%. What’s up with that?
You must have some “Trinkets” that give you extra energy. The Scandia Down Pillow gives you 5 energy, and the Starbucks Card gives you 3 energy, for example. This extra energy is not counted when you use a smoothie.

How do I get a ruby?
You get a ruby when your little sister crosses over and becomes a big sister. A ruby will boost your attack strength.

    DESIGN QUESTIONS

How do I make a design?
To make a design, you will need to choose the software you are going to use (these are explained more later). In addition to this, you will want a blank copy of the avatar: http://i49.tinypic.com/2lcnpk5.png
To make a design, on a separate layer simply draw your design over the top over the avatar.

What is Gimp/ Photoshop/ Paint? Which is the best for me?
Gimp, Photoshop and Paint are all softwares which can be used to make designs. Each program is equally as good, however while Photoshop costs money, Gimp is free. There are also several tutorials within the User Design section which help new designers start off.
    For Photoshop: http://forum.sistersapps.com/showthread.php?t=55857
    For Gimp: http://forum.playdom.com/showthread....MP-Help-Thread
    For Paint Shop: http://forum.playdom.com/showthread....l-by-*Natalie*

What is a ‘Watermark’ and why should I use one?
A watermark stops other people stealing your work. They are made by adding text over the top of the design and lowering the opacity so that design is protected and viewable at the same time.

Where can I share my designs?
You can share your designs in the User Design section. Here you can make your own thread for other designers to critique your work and give you tips for improvement.

I’ve heard people use ‘tablets’ to create their designs, what is this?
A graphics tablet is a tool that some designers use to make designs. It works like a mouse, however a pen is used on a pressure sensitive pad to guide the paintbrush.

Can I only design if I have a tablet?
No, several designers do not use tablets, as they can be expensive. Many designers use a mouse to make their designs, the tutorials section is a great way to learn how to manipulate the tools in designing softwares.

How frequent are the design contests?
Often, contests are held around Spring/ Autumn/ Halloween. They can be somewhat irregular, so it’s best to check the forums or the Sorority Life Blog frequently for updates.

How do I submit my designs to a contest?
When a new design competition is announced, you can submit your designs onto the official Sorority Life Blog under the ‘Design Contests’ section. When you submit these, you must have the outfit on top of the avatar, and with the avatar ‘hidden,’ meaning the avatar cannot be seen. In addition to this, you must remove all watermarks and backgrounds.
