BURN LIST & BOUNTY HUNTING QUESTIONS
Do I have to win fights on the burn list to claim the gratitude?
Nope, you just have to take their confidence down to zero.
Will I automatically get the gratitude if I win the fight?
You need to take their confidence down to zero in order to claim the gratitude.
How do I get my bounty higher?
Your bounty is determined by your salary x 10, or calculated based on the number of fights you’ve won, whichever is higher. In order to raise your bounty, you need to get a higher-paying job or win more fights. You can check out Christopher’s nifty bounty calculator for more information.
How do I know if I’ve been put on the burn list?
You will receive a notification in your feed. It will say something along the lines of “xxxxxxxx has written your name on the burn list, with a reward of $1,600,000!” You will likely be depressed before you even notice that you’ve been burned.
Why is there never anybody showing on my burn list?
The burn list is a very busy place! You need to refresh constantly to see any activity. Also, keep in mind that because there are restrictions on the levels you can attack, you won't be seeing EVERYBODY who's currently on the burn list.
I thought I couldn’t be attacked while in the spa, but someone put me on the burn list. How does that work?
Being in the spa is meant to “protect” your character from being depressed. Because the aim of the burn list is to depress people, being in the spa doesn’t matter.
I’ve heard that bounty hunters should stay at a low level. What is considered “low” and why is that helpful?
Remember that on the burn list, you can only attack those who are at your level and higher. If you stay at a low level, you’re able to see many more people and claim many more grats. It is possible to be a high-level bounty hunter, but it requires a lot more patience.
Why do I not get as much influence when I’m on the burn list as when I’m in regular fights?
The burn list is meant to cause you to lose influence rather than gain it. Because of this, you only gain 1 influence per 9 confidence lost.
I hear people talking about “friendly” or “controlled” burns. How is it different than a regular burn and what is the purpose of it?
A friendly burn occurs when someone is burned at their own request. There are many reasons for this - people wanting to raise their win count, wanting to lose influence, wanting to check their popularity, wanting to increase their girls destroyed, or wanting to increase their bounty by winning more fights quickly, among others.
