Like Sociable, I've had to adopt a system where I whip out all of the high-value stuff in storage and dump it in the garden at the beginning of each chapter, then remove it once all of the scenes are unlocked. Takes about 10 minutes, start to finish.

Luckily, what with crystal scenes coming rather regularly, I haven't had to do it every week for awhile now. More like every 2.

On ordinary days, my garden looks just like I want it, with wide expanses of green or paths, and courtyards, and all of the decorations that I like. The green, the paths, and the decorations can be zipped into inventory and leave room for the 2x2 and 3x3 buildings I hate, but which have high value.

And yes, I've had to get rid of some of my old stuff. About half of my Egypt items are gone, because even when I arrange the garden the way I want, it looks too cluttered with all of the sarcophagi, etc. I try to just store things, but if months go by and I haven't used them, I exchange them for white prints or silver.

That's the way it is, with GOT, since Playdom doesn't care about this issue.

I too am having trouble opening up new scenes due to limited space. I do know that I try to concentrate on first opening up scenes. Once you play tghe scene it stays open and then I can reduce my rep to accomplish the low value quests.

Just to make sure everyone knows. You can expand your garden to a limit of 36x36 (I think that is the current limit). It is done by one of the icons in the build section of the game. You will either need (a certain number of neighbors + silver) OR (gold). You are not stuck with the tiny garden you start with, there is a method of expansion (up to the limit).

Linda, I'm around your level. When this last chapter came out, all the scenes except the last were open from my last garden cram. When I made it look better, I put in a lot of pathways and then I substituted paths for buildings when I needed to. I'm also trying to build up the reps on walls and flowers etc. Not sure I'll have enough for the next chapter either unless they expand our space or a lot more cramming. I think they're two problems: The reputation amounts keep increasing a lot further than they used to and space is not keeping up with it. It would be nice to keep our gardens pretty but that's pretty much impossible except for a few weeks.

I have a garden on two-thirds of my space. The rest is empty which I cram with the items when I need to unlock a new chapter. I do my construction there and then take the high rep items out of storage. I don't put out anything out that is less than 800 per square (so a 3x3 has to be worth at least 7200) and just sell off anything I can't upgrade. I use a lot of the water paths (420 vs. 0) instead of having a lot of path. I like the idea of being able to upgrade trees and flowers because I have a lot of those but I just don't understand why it takes so many more gifts to upgrade them than it does the buildings.

Does completing a 4 star for each scene earn you reputation?

Sadly, no. Just the usual XP & silver. When you're working on a wonder they are needed for completion, but other than that it's basically just another star =)

I'm impressed that you can manage 2/3 of your space! I think I get about 1/3 garden and the rest is just high-rep storage. I can't open new scenes any more until I have "built"whatever items were earned or purchased in the previous one, so I almost never get to return the high-rep items to storage. It's discouraging, because having a "pretty garden" is a major reason why I play the game.

Hi, I put in the highest 1 block buildings I can. I am at 70+ so I can set in a 2,000 point building. I use them to wrap around my buildings to give them some space. You can do this at any level and just place newer buildings or artifacts as you achieve different levels.

I should never do this stuff in the middle of the night, meaning math. Today we got an expansion. Taking us to 39x39 or 1521 squares. 2,120,000 is the total rp you need to open up Chapter 46. 1521 - 4 squares for the time machine gives you 1517 squares 1517 goes into 2,120,000 1397.49 times. Meaning you need a minimum of 1398 rp per square to open all the scenes. I know that is less but its still tough and I think all the other math is right.

Before you run with this suggestion I strongly suggest you check Jan's Spreadsheets and double check my math! I am also not including the silver cost of all this (which can be very steep) because its easy to get silver or Premium Items (which tend to have a slightly higher rp density) because their high cost makes them an impractical solution!

If you build a lot of the whatever the current highest rp per square building is and upgrade it to level 2 or 3 you can open everything. Its just ugly and a pain in the butt. Right now the winner is the La Boca House from Chapter 45 its 2040 at level 1 and then upgrades at level 2 to 2310 (5 items to upgrade) and is 2590 for level 3 (10 more items for a total of 15). It also pays (just barely) to upgrade as many of the 4 square buildings to level 5 that you can because that saves on storage and they are less tedious to put into the garden (which is a big issue if you like to decorate). Street Soccer will go up to 8970 (level 5) for a 4 square building or 2242 rp per square for 50 materials. (Though 2,242 will quickly become too low to open scenes too and 4 square buildings will no longer be an option!)

    So
4 La Boca at Level 1 will give you 8,160 and takes no materials
4 La Boca at Level 2 will give you 9,240 rp and takes 20 materials
4 La Boca at level 3 will give you 10,360 rp and take 60 materials.
1 Street Soccer at level 5 will give you 8,970 rp and take 50 materials

Its up to you to decide what your patience level is with upgrading and moving buildings.

Its not really worth trying to upgrade artifacts or decorations because ultimately it takes way more materials and the highest rp is still lower than that of the buildings For example the Trolly from chapter 46 at level 5 is 4,850 for 2 squares or 2,425 per square, not very far ahead of rp curve for a lot of work. (It takes 50 materials to fully upgrade a building vs. (5, 15, 25, 35) for a total of 80 various and sometimes hard to gather materials for a decoration or an artifact).

    So
1 Trolley to level 5 is 80 materials and gets you 4,850 rp (2,425 per square)
2 La Boca houses to Level 5 is 100 materials and gets you 6,380 rp (3,190 per square)

700 Trolleys to level 5 would cost 56,000 materials and give you 3,395,000 rp
1400 La Boca houses to level 5 would cost 70,000 materials and give you 4,466,000 rp

If you are extremely ambitious you can acquire and upgrade a lot of Fireside Barbeques. This is the Collection item from Chapter 46, it starts at 1820 rp per square but upgrades to 3,230 per square. If you can get 1,400 of them that will give you 4,522,000 rp. It will only take 7,000 collections items and 112,000 upgrade materials but that should open chapters until about March of next year maybe even until Summer depending on how much they decide to increase the rp needed to open each scene.

I like having a pretty garden but right now it is impossible to do so and have enough rp to open the scenes. I hope that they come up a solution to this soon. I think that they are losing a lot of money because people see no point in decorating their gardens any more and therefore are not purchasing the premium items. If they did start to play because of the garden many have now quit in frustration. To most players the garden as become an unsavory place to dump rp. Its a real shame that Playdom has decided to make the game rp so difficult. Of course some of this is absurd, we all know we are going to get higher rp per square items with every new chapter, put will they have a high enough value to allow us to have any diversity in our gardens?
