    Default Guide to Gaining Enrollment (Academic Building Info)

    Ok, you want to increase your enrollment.
    You need 2 things to do that - Residential Buildings and enough Spirit to use them.
    This guide is here to help you decide which academic buildings to build in pursuit of an increased spirit total.

    Here is as much as you could really want to know about the Academic Buildings: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...uthkey=CIO4yTQ
    Check the tabs for Residential, Academic, etc to find the information you want.

    Please note - Even though you can build a Music Department at Level 8, the Music Department upgrade to Music School is locked until Level 9. It seems to be the only building that cannot be upgraded immediately after purchase.

    Institute is currently the highest level upgrade for academic buildings.

    It is possible to add students when your spirit is within 33% of your enrollment (neutral face displayed on the spirit indicator), but once you pass that threshold, your spirit indicator will return to a frown face and you can no longer do things with your residential buildings (including move them to storage).
    Example - If you have 100,011 students you have a with 100,021 spirit; a :| with 75,021 spirit and a with 75,001 spirit.
    75,021 * 4/3 = 100,026 > 100,011 --> :|
    75,001 * 4/3 = 100,001 < 100,011 -->
    Please note that decorations can also add spirit - but they do not upgrade like academic buildings. As such, their usage is straight forward and doesn't need a guide like this. Academic buildings are superior to decorations when you need large amounts of spirit and only have a limited number of grid squares to place them on.

    If you need residential building info, look here: http://forum.playdom.com/showthread.php?t=27279
    Or Here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...uthkey=CIO4yTQ

    The chart in the excel file is up-to-date and also contains up-to-date information as of 2/2/11.

    The music dept. is upgradeable at/after level 9. I already sent a support ticket on it; they said they're working on getting that info to display in game.

    I believe it's the only department that has different level requirements for building and upgrading; or at least, it's the only one I have seen so far (at level 15).

    Medical Institute takes 4 Days to build. That's kinda excessive isn't it?

    Edit:

    I had made a speadsheet as well. I am missing a little data that is not on yours either. Do you know what all the coin payout for each level of Academic Building?

    You might have this covered already, but the max ratio of students:spirit where it wont allow you to move in any more students seems to be at about 1 1/3:1 rounded up to the nearest student. This means that each engineering building(for example) should allow you to move in 280 students.

    An excellent point. I've also found it to be true. You can have up to 1-1/3x more (or 4:3 ratio of students:spirit) enrolled before the face goes from neutral to frown. I stop at 1-1/4 so that I don't have to worry about missing the mark before moving buildings.

    One other thing to note - you can move academic buildings from one district to the next. Since spirit is checked on a per district basis, this means you can really have 4x more students than spirit once you have all 3 districts. (4/3 in each district, x3 districts).

    to see how much spirit you need-
    multiply your current students by 0.75.

    to see how many students your current spirit can contain:
    divide your current spirit by 0.75.

    so say you have 20,000 students. You need 15,000 spirit.
    or say you have 16,450 spirit, with 20,000 students. Your spirit can support 21933 students- or about 1,933 more before you need to build more spirit.

    the spirit for the new building is wrong in the doc. it's 16,000 spirit, not 14,500. it also gives 4,920 XP to upgrade to institute
