I want to request from my neighbors

I'd like to have the option to request things from people who are actually PLAYING the game, not hunt them out on my list of recommended, which is not where their names are.

My husband and I were really enjoying this game, but we have been unable to complete these timed quests because there are people that play this game that have things going on in their lives that interfere with them getting on everyday. So you really need to do two things here to keep players: 1 bring back the option to ask friends that actually play the game for things, and 2 make these other quests actually achievable.

Unlike some here i have a small group of friends who are playing this, and I am not wanting to turn my friend's list into a huge mess with people i don't even know.

I agree with you 1000 percent. I will have to quit this game if they don't let me request from my neighbors. I have written their names down, but it is terribly onerous to henpick through the list of names. It's a real shame. Most of my neighbors have already quit, making it even harder for me to complete tasks.
