Yep, Dallasite here. The DFW metropolitan area isn't that much smaller than Belgium.

    Here's a comparison for Texas

I could only find this to compare Canada to the US

From wiki: Spanning over 9,900,000 km2 (3,800,000 sq mi), Canada is the world's second-largest country by total area. At 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km2) and with over 312 million people, the United States is the third or fourth largest country by total area.

California has more people than the entire country of Canada.

Can you imagine Texas has about 22 million people living there and Holland has 16 million!!!
I read someone drives 100 km or miles to work every day here that would take you about two hour to get there and two hours back!!

Texas has more than that now. I think it's around 25 million. We've had a huge influx of people coming here for jobs.

As for commutes that take hours, in some big cities, there are a lot of people who take buses or trains that long every day. It can be really expensive to live in places like New York, so people live a couple hours away, sometimes even in a different state, in order to have a bigger home for less money.

It's not miles, just kilometres, and it takes me about 1 hour 15 each way. But it does make for a long day! However, if I was living in Sydney, I would probable spend that amount of time on a train to go a third of the distance!!
