View Full Version : Either make this a combat game or back off the major fight assignments

I'm really annoyed at the way the new majors stuff has so many assignment that involve fighting when the game developers have decided that this is not really a combat game.

Yes, that's right the game developers made this some sort of subset of a combat game when they decided to restrict what levels you can attack. In real combat games any level can attack any level. In this ridiculous excuse for a combat game they don't let you attack down in level. From the beginning I knew that fighting in this game was filled with problems but I still played because I liked the other aspects of the game and I started playing another game to vent my fighting frustration. lol

For me at level 213, assignments like win 50 fights in 4 hrs or collect a grat off the burn list are practically impossible. Are they trying to alienate their long time high-level players? If Playdom took the time to see how people really play this game as opposed to how they intended people to play or how they think people should have played it would be really helpful. Perhaps if they let a tester try to create an ID in the real world and not their test environment they would see how those of us that pay their salaries actually play the game.

Dear Support create yourselves a high level player that DOESN'T have 1000 borders and every high level glam item known to man and see how you do.

I will now get off my soap box. smdh ;-(

In my opinion, the Majors are fine the way they are. Yes, some of the "assisgnments" are almost if not completely impossible on certain characters. But they also have made it so that even if you do not do the impossible ones, you are still able to get a good grade, thereby getting the glam.

As far as people who want to avoid certain assignments simply to make a point, they are missing a big part of the game. I for one, have found that more people are taking this game for what it is, a game. Slapping, burning and attacking are NOT personal attacks or bullying unless you make it so.
I am glad to see more of my players realizing that the slap button is nothing more than another feature of the game, nothing different than attacking. Now that they have actually used it, they see that its not the evil thing made out to be. I seriously wonder who the first to make such a deal out of that little button was. I really don't use it because I have never found a use (not that there weren't people in my own feed once in awhile that could have used a slap or two), and since there is nothing in it for me. The same with the burn feature, I want to use my $$ for other things and burning someone does nothing for ME.
I wonder if adding these assignments isn't just a way to introduce people to features that they avoided using before. But in any case, those that really want to hold onto the old "anti" ways, can still do so and just let the time run out on those assignments. I really think more and more people are coming to the realization that one button is no worse than another in this game. Its all in how YOU act/react in using it.

I agree 100% that majors in general are a good thing as far as desensitizing people to getting attacked, burned and slapped. I'm glad that Playdom is forcing people to see just how crazy it is to judge a real person for pressing a button. However, my problem still exists. I play 1 main character any other character is to get brownie points and borders for my main so that fact that all my minis can finish the major and get glam is irrelevant to me. My problem is that I want to be able to satisfy the objective and I can not because they fight list is so limiting.

IMO They can't have it both ways. You can tell me that I can not attack down and then tell me that I have to win 50 fights in 4 hrs. At my level those things are mutually exclusive. How can the Majors be fine the way they are when some of the highest level and longest playing users can't complete them successfully? I should at least have the opportunity to attack and win 50 times but I can't because of the restrictions on only fighting equal or higher levels. There are NO people on my fight list that are my level all of them are at least 20 levels higher so how is that fair? Imagine if a level 20 ONLY saw levels 40 -50 on their fight list. The outcry of "unfair" would be deafening.

I agree with you, and I posted in another thread that Playdom needs to find someone who actually plays this game regularly to help them determine what some reasonable restrictions on the majors would be. I'm level 203, and I once got an assignment to fight 300 or 500 times within just a few hours. On my minis, this wouldn't have been a problem. The fights didn't have to be won, I just had to do them. But at level 203, everybody on my fight list is either on the In Crowd or in the spa. Not to mention that I probably wouldn't be able to get several hundred attacks in on those 10 or so people. I also got an assignment to wear an outfit that would sell for 100,000. (Followed by an assignment to wear one that would sell for 15,000 , but what can you do.) Anyway, my point is that some assignments just aren't doable for certain levels. Once you hit a certain level, probably high-100s and up, you can't be expected to fight, and you especially can't be expected to win. And I'm sure people at low levels, let's say 10 or 20, or whenever you first get the majors tab, would have some difficulty wearing an ensemble that would sell for 100,000, unless they're successful hunters. If they had someone who played the game regularly, not someone who just popped in every time a new feature was released and clicked it a couple times, they would know that some of the assignments are impossible. You can always skip them, with BPs or just by letting the timer run out (since it doesn't do anything unless it's the last assignment), but that kind of defeats the purpose of majors.

I also think that after a certain point, maybe level 200, there should be less restrictions on who you can fight. Maybe a range of 5 levels would be reasonable. There's not much of a difference between a level 200 and 205, or 220 and 215, but it would open up a lot more possibilities for fighting.

That's the main reason causing drama. At least fighting gives you influence, but slapping, or burnlisting give u nothing.
So what's the point of slapping, burninglisting?
To some people, it's a way to take revenge
And it causes drama :)

Burn list is kinda a feature for BL hunter, but slapping... err? I always wonder why PD adds this feature.
Though I'm not a serious fighter but I do fight, and sometimes serial attack somebody if I can win.
Thus, I don't against slapping as a "real" slap, but because it's completely useless

It only causes "drama" because of the way people over-react to it. I don't react any differently to being "slapped" versus "attacked". In reality, neither of these things "really" happened, and to be honest the slap does less damage and they get no money so I couldn't care less (although I am negative income so no-one gets $$ from me). I totally see where it is useful for someone who wants to retaliate some sort of attack but cannot beat the rival. So you use what you can. Personally the ones who do create drama are people who would find some other reason if the slap button wasn't there.

They should have asked the forum about this i know the whole big surprise thing is still there but, if they asked the forum and got the opinions of each and made you know a standard system it'd be much better since majority of the higher players are on here and there's also the lower levels to put in there opinion to. maybe depending on your level the majors would have different challenges so lower levels don't have to figure out how to sell 500,000 glam in a certain amount of time.

Yes, they could have a bracket-type system, where different level groups have different assignments. Levels 10-50, 51-100, 101-150, 151-200, 201+ or something like that. A group of forum members would have been a good way to go, even if it was a select group that met off the forum or in a hidden section of the forum.

So easy, find another sister whose house is smaller than me and attack :p

I totally see where it is useful for someone who wants to retaliate some sort of attack but cannot beat the rival.
That's why I said it's a kind of taking revenge. Should it a good action?

I feel funny when somebody slaps me because I attack her and she loses. With such small damage slapping cause, it doesn't affect me at all.
Again, the loser doesn't have anything back.
It would be better for herself if she knows how to use her stamina to find less house size sisters to get money and influence.

The same thing goes with burnlist. If somebody has such a lot of money, rather glam up herself than spend money for nothing back

who would have thought in a game like SL two tiny buttons would cause so much drama! This game is full of it, and its supposed to be FUN.. But there's so many that take this GAME way to darn seriously, and frankly, I think that the Devs adding in the majors is another good way to get some free glam.

Don't like the assignments? Don't do them and as advised, simply let the time run out. I am so sick and tired of hearing from my OWN sisters on my feed about how UNFAIR the majors are because they don't coincide with their GAME PLAY. No one is making ANYONE do the majors.

I don't slap and haven't had that assignment yet but if and when I do I think I'll just go after some of the old non actives on the cat walk. If they haven't played in years I don't think my slapping them would count at least that is my thinking and I'm sticking with it.

I wish you luck with that strategy. Other players are also doing this so when you do find someone who appears to be inactive, they are already terminally depressed. My assignment was to slap 50 people in a 2 hr period (I think it was 2). And the first 28 I tried doing that and in a whole hour I only got to 36 (others off the fight/rival list.) My suggestion if you are personally opposed to slapping or the retaliation is do it, leave a note on their whiteboard and leave them a vote or votes. This has worked for me so far.

I did it for the BL assignment so I figured it would work but I guess if it doesn't I'll ask a few SFs for volunteers. I don't care about getting slapped myself for the assignment so if anyone needed to finish it I wouldn't care if they slapped me. Do the assignments require you to slap different people or is it just the number of slaps that matter? That would make it tough. Either way even with attacks, I'm not taking it too personal right now knowing these assignments are out there. They are a little dumb if you ask me but I guess everyone wants the glam so I don't blame anyone for going for them.

Well you're describing my pain yesterday when I got the "Fight 75 times" thingy. Thank god it said fight not lose or win, but still, when you're level 200+ this is a pain.

I had slap to 300 people yesterday. I just changed my status noting that so I didn't get a bunch of people whining on my wb. First time I got one of the slapping ones too. I mostly get the ones where you have to play a mini game.

Man I had the 300 slapping one too and luckily I had some awesome volunteers that allowed me to slap them. Slapping is like.. voodoo! Like.. OMG, I got slapped! *le gasp*

I hope these assignments aren't being recycled for different majors because there is a few I would really hate to have to redo.
