Just some feedback. I have fertilizer and my daughter does not. She never plants crops because the rewards from bushes are so much better for the same time investment. I did not understand why she never planted crops until I discovered not everybody had the fertilizer.
Limiting the amount of fertilizer is a good option -- beyond the fertilizer amount, if you could do it the old way and have the option to speed it up (for those people who want to spend more than they are getting because of quests or something), that would be ideal. I have not run into that problem yet, but I am not that high level yet.
Anyway, without the fertilizer, crops are really only quest items, and that makes things a lot tougher -- very frustrating for my daughter.
