Probably a little bit of a piece offering and also probably has something to do with the new Major events, since you can use bps to do them sooner. They usually offer a special when a bp event comes out (I know this is NOT a bp event but some of us impatient people will use some!)
Like when the Fortune Wheels came out....

Oh I definitely think its interesting. Are they KIDDING right now? They would have a sale a DAY (not even a full DAY) after that fiasco. Not to mention its only lasting for three days. *eyeroll*

Not at all. These darn sales make me reconsider VIP EVERY month because it's always just a couple days before mine renews.

Just an observation from my feed, but since the sale announcement, some people have been responding by cancelling their VIP subscription. Hope Playdom is noticing :)

Pfft, they arent. You know they arent. I had cancelled my VIP long ago and don't even regret it. I've been considering buying bp's but I don't NEED the LC that badly to support Playdom right now. Not in the midst of this latest fiasco.

I think people are baffled/miffed because the only folks that would participate right now are (most likely) those who didn't get to take part in the glitch. And so the discount, even as a gesture, may seem like a slap in the face to those who think yesterday's events and outcome was unfair. Does that make sense?
I wish to state that I don't share that sentiment, but I do love my discounts.

I love the sales personally. It's just the timing on them that sucks. While it's cheaper to be VIP than it is to just flat out buy $20 worth of BPs, it's even cheaper to just wait around for the sales... which makes VIP just a monthly outfit perk, to me at least.

Yes :) Sorry, I just kind of sat here having a "what..?" moment :o I'm wondering if the sale was planned in advance or spur of the moment now though.

THAT is my point right there. While we will never know if it was in fact a planned sale or spur or the moment, either way, I think the timing is a bit odd. Devs came out with a new campus tab, which may have (or may not have) had disastrous effects on the game. Now they come out with a sale? I'd much rather be seeing some sort of statement, beyond Whitney's statement last night, about what may have contributed to the 'glitch' and what they will be doing to rectify it satisfactorily to all players, instead of a 'here, lets dangle our disgruntled customers with a sale and hope that alleviates some of the backlash."
While those who benefited from the glitch is of the position of "so what" to those that didn't, it's still not a very good business practice of Playdom to take the BP's back, but let those keep the glam those players WOULDNT HAVE HAD under NORMAL gameplay (even IF Playdom decided in the end to yank all the glam back, there is NO way that 600 bps would have bought 1000's of LE items (and 1000's of boarders) all at once and you can't tell me that Playdom would NOT know which accounts took advantage and which didn't), all the while hold a sale immediately following. I think they saw what kind of effect this was having on the players, and the outrage that followed, and now are offering this as some sort of peace offering to shut some of us up.
Well frankly, it's not going to work for this player.

Personally I love the sales and I love the VIP, both on their own merits. I think they probably had the plan in place for the sale to go along with the new event in case people would like to "speed" up the events, they couldn't have anticipated the glitch from last night. And seriously, why would the people who were around for the glitch not want a sale? I know I ALWAYS do! Having regular sales doesn't make me want my VIP status any less. I love getting the glam once a month and unlike some who seem to find fault with every piece of glam released, I don't feel the need to have each one be SUPER special. I am getting exactly what I pay for and I love it! The bp sales specials help tide me over until the next VIP drop, so I appreciate them too!
I am playing this game for fun and bps make it more so for me, so I will continue to do so. Alot of people on this forum make me wonder why they even play, they don't seem to like anything at all.

Yes, I love my discounts. But yes, I feel PD's way of rectification of the glitch's totally disappointing. As for timing wise, perhaps the BP offer is expected, something like PD scheduled it to release 1 day after the new tab and about 3 days before the new gala (as what according to the timer of Western Weekend) but the whole storm of BP shower from the casino's unforeseen, something like when's the next hurricane. And hence, after the uproar and the aftermath of the casino glitch that left many players disgruntled, it seems to be somewhat of a mockery, i.e. "Oh, you didn't rip us off and benefited from the casino, so here's 40% BPs more with purchase!" <--With hopes that it'll shut some players up.
Contradictory, a discount is a discount IMO. Glitch or no glitch, it's still going to happen, as usual. Although I feel that if PD's a little more sensitive, it'll prioritize re-rectification of the casino glitch above the discount, and postpone it (the discount I mean).
I don't know if I should say this, but well, PD can still feed me carrots, though I won't shut up and pretend that nothing had gone awry in the first place.

In all honesty, I've obviously been hiding under a rock. I had NO idea what had happened, so I went ahead & bought some. I'm not sure what time the glitch actually happened, but I was probably at work. Even if I had known about it, I'd probably still have bought some BP's.

While I wish I had gotten some free BP's , (I got online just a few minutes too late) I am not going to not buy them because some people got them for free. I enjoy buying glam and spinning galas and there is a new one coming so I bought some. Some people spend way too much time worrying about what everyone else is doing. Playdom doesnt give a rats ass if you don't buy because you're pissed you didnt get free BP's. They clearly don't give a rats ass about any of their customers. You are only punishing yourself by not buying if you really want them.

Exactly my thoughts. There are way more players that just play and enjoy this game than the ones that think "boycotting" will get them somewhere. I am not going to miss playing the game the way I want just to try to "punish" Playdom, they wouldn't even notice. I would be the one to notice what I was missing!
