View Full Version : Being led up the garden path!

Hi all,

Did you notice there's a new addition to the paths, too -- many of us have requested a path that has rep points so the path isn't wasted space in the garden.

Well, it is here. However, at one gold bar per square, it seems an awfully high price.

But it is here.

Well, that's just crazy! I'm not about to pay a bar per square -- Geez! You're right -- lol -- they'd like to lead us up the Garden Path!!!! I did buy the white horses, love them.

I just saw it, I almost never check the "path" tab!
Anyway, with the Wonder upgrade feature, I think most of us have enough reputation to unlock scenes already.

I just saw it, too. Probably makes a nice looking path, but I think I'll stick to replacing my paths with Hollywood stars when I need more rep.

Yeah, a bit steep at one gold bar so I won't be buying. I did buy the horses though as they are lovely and go nicely with my rabbits and pandas.

Me, too. I don't buy many gold items, but my new white horses are getting acquainted with the brown horse.

1 gold per square is crazy. I would have done 10,000 silver per square for appropriate rep, though. The key being appropriate. Not 60.

Brown Horse? Where?

That's the (no longer available) French Stallion gold item.

Do the white horses wander the paths like the kangaroos?

No, they just hang out in their little designated area :-)

60 rep for paths that cost 1 gold? I see two problems, 60 is very low reputation, about 1/6th of the average of what you need per square to have enough reputation in your garden, and 1 gold if you have 100 or 200 path squares is $20-40. If the reputation was in the 300-400 range I'd consider paying for paths, but the second problem is the price is way out of whack.

I put all those purple paths all through my garden and when I was finished I hated it. I think something like paths should have a flat price to unlock them and then you can use as many as you like. I have 143 purple paths in storage, so $28.60 of gold if they'd cost 1 gold each. That's in the range of 10 times more then what I'd be willing to pay if the reputation was such that I didn't mind getting rid of my fame stars. I think pricing should be more along the lines of 10 gold to unlock so you can use as much or as little as you'd like, and if you get it spread throughout your garden and absolutely hate it, the money spent is no biggie.

I absolutely agree. I would not even consider buying any of these new paths with gold. However, if, like you suggested, we could pay a flat price and have them be available to us unlimited the way regular paths are, I might consider that.

Has anybody tested it to see if 1 gold gets you one square or unlocks the path?

In the interest of research and helping out fellow players, I bought 2 squares. They cost 2 gold and join up and have a border of flowers, they are very cute.

Too expensive.

Oh darn! Is there any chance some retired items could come back to give newer players an opportunity to get them?

And as usual, the Devs get some of it right but the bulk of it wrong. On the positive side, it's nice to finally have a Pathway that gives Reputation points. So much for the one positive. On the negative side, even ONE piece of Gold is too effing much to pay for this. I could see 100-1000 pieces of Silver for it. But for Gold, even one piece, there needs to be a much bigger Reputation payoff.

There is one place, and one place ONLY that I would consider making this bogus purchase, and that's at the entrance of the Garden, where you MUST have 4 squares in order to admit Visitors. Other than that, this is a really stupid idea unless you've got a lot of money to waste.

And while I'm at it, requiring Gold to open the basic scenes is just plain greedy. I can see where paying in Gold to open the Premium scenes is fair, and I have done so since I wanted to keep up with the addtional story line (and the added items were a MUCH-appreciated surprise yesterday--many thanks!!). But it's a royal pain to have the Reputation requirements so high that you either have to blow Gold or clutter up the Garden to get from Point A to Point B and beyond.

Just my two cents worth,

Michelle :-)

We have 60 Rep items that sell for 750/800 Silver and have 140/160 xp (Cretan Trees to Marble Column). It's not reasonable to have this path worth Gold at all! Why can't it be appropriately priced in Silver, maybe 1,000? Our higher level players have lots of Silver, give them something nice to purchase with it. Gold for many is slow to gather, why spend it on something of such little value? We'd love to have pretty paths throughout our gardens, but probably not at this price.

ESP must have been in the air! We were writing at the same time and had similar sentiments. I thought of the garden enterance too, but you actually don't have to have 4 squares to let anyone in, one square will do it. But, it's not ideal and the characters won't have room to walk around. The Gift Lady and Blitz Gent can pop up anywhere as long as they can get in.

Glad to be corrected on those numbers--can't remember where I saw it now. Cheers!!

The gift lady and blitz gent still need pathways to stand on. I do have one neighbor that has no garden path at the entrance, but she has a small oval of path in the back. This is where the two of them stand. But if you have no pathways at all, you will not get either the gift lady or the blitz gent. (Just a clarification for newbies about what you said...that they can pop up anywhere.)

Here's something, if you have a small garden, buy 2 of those paths and put them at your entrance. Every time you expand, you will get another 2 paths completely free!

I believe you, but I could have sworn I was in a spammed garden with just 1 or 2 paths at the front and only the ! was visible in the red roofed houses. I didn't see any paths there. But, there are so many gardens, I sure could be wrong! I apologize if I was misleading.

There might have been a path you couldn't see....behind the houses. I've run into that myself when building...realized I left a path behind something and having to clear the area out to get to it.

Ok, now that would be funny! I know anything is possible but I would think that they made the gold bar paths not to fill in like the regular ones do. If they didn't then that is a great idea to use, heh.

Doh, too late. I tried it with my husband's game (because he just allowed the application so I could have an extra neighbor so he had some juicy gold just sitting there) and it told me I didn't have enough gold and then made me refresh my game and didn't give any new paths at all.

Beware, the way that happened it made me think if you did have 2 gold sitting there it may have taken it. I can't prove that, but since it gave me a pop up about not having enough gold the implication is there.

I bought one and was not impressed, the tulips are way too small to be showy.

I think they are just exploring the idea of a premium path. How about a "pack of 20 or 30" pieces of path for 1 gold bar?

I checked with partner's account and it is "fixed." They take your gold with no confirmation.
