what I do is this: first 5 miners, then 5 conscripts for stop the enemy, when i have crystals i send 3 or 4 priest and 1 cavalry, more priest, and finally many many enchantress XD.... the only units i lost are the conscripts

It really depends on your level. Strategies start to changed when you have different units available, and start to face certain units.

4 miners + 1 conscript for small maps, 5 miners for large map. After that, witch and priest, send in the cavalry before enemy can engage witches.

So I only send out ONE cavalry? with a ton of priests?

That's what I do, at least. I've found that if you send more than 1, all that means is that all the cavalry will take splash damage together, which makes things harder for the priests and usually guarantee that some of the cavalry will die. But if you really do commit to sending only one, you'll have to be really careful with it. If it dies, the enemy is going to wipe your entire force.

yeah, if things start to go south, you can sometimes pre-emptive a second cavalry so it gets there in time. Also, if you have enough priests, they can usually handle the AOE damage on 2 Cavalries if the AOE isnt too heavy.

For raiding, in general, use a tank unit (i use a golem) and spam healers/clerics... add long range units (archers/mages) and then use a spell to break the opponents healer/archer barrier, that will allow you to cut down their tank and then you are free and clear... for very short maps, you need healers as well as clerics (at least for elf)
